Glimepiride the active ingredient of Econid belongs to a class of drugs called sulfonylureas. It is used to help control blood sugar levels. The decrease in blood sugar is achieved mainly by means of the stimulation of insulin release from pancreatic beta cells.

Precaution
Before you use Econid, tell your doctor of your medical and health history including the following:
allergic reaction to sulfonamide derivatives and other sulfonylureas
coma due to high blood sugar level (diabetic coma)
high blood sugar level due to the absence of insulin production (type 1 diabetes mellitus)
high levels of glucose and ketones in the blood (diabetic ketoacidosis)
severe kidney disease
severe liver disease
The use of Econid is known to be not safe for use in pregnant women. consult your physician or pharmacist before taking this medication.
