Introduction
Dr. Muhammad Azhar Awan is a renowned specialist in the field of Cardiovascular Medicine. In 1998, he began his academic journey at King Edward Medical College, Lahore. After completion of residency in Pakistan. He attained further medical training in various hospitals in UK and completed his MRCP. He completed fellowship in research and Medical Education from the University of NewCastle (UK). He then completed formal specialist training in general and Interventional Cardiology and was awarded CCT ( Certificate of Completion of Training ) from Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board) in 2017. He has worked as consultant interventional Cardiologist in UK.
He has experience of working in private sector in Pakistan and has been working as Consultant Interventional Cardiologist in Lahore. Moreover, Dr. Azhar Awan has experience working in the field of Cardio-oncology at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Center. He has experience of management and treatment of patients undergoing going solid organ transplantation at Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute.
His areas of expertise includes, management and treatment of heart attacks, coronary angiography and angioplasty. He is an expert in emergency coronary angioplasty (Primary PCI) both nationally and internationally. His other areas of interest includes heart diseases in cancer patients and heart disease in pregnancy. He is qualified and trained to manage cardiac emergencies and long term cardiac ailments
