Dr. Ahmed Awais is an American board-certified hematologist and medical oncologist. He is a graduate of Aga Khan University Medical College. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at The University of Texas Houston , followed by a fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine/MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston, Texas USA. He has more than a decade of experience managing patients with cancer and hematological conditions. Dr. Ahmed has served as a consultant at various cancer centers in USA including Callahan Cancer Center in Nebraska and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center in Colorado, where he was actively involved in expanding the existing cancer care services and establishing new community outreach oncology clinics. He currently serves as a visiting consultant for cancer centers in Nebraska and Colorado, USA. He has also worked at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, where he was actively involved in the oncology fellowship program for trainees and served as an examiner for FCPS examination. Dr. Ahmed has a special interest in the quality of care imparted to cancer patients and has served as the physician executive for Pakistan’s first ever QOPI (Quality Oncology Practice Initiative) Certification Program, conducted by ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology) and awarded in 2023.
