Some diseases have been living through the ages regardless of the medical discoveries man has made over time. One of these that occurs across the globe is Pneumonia. A bacterial or viral lung infection that causes sickness is known as pneumonia. Fever, chills, shortness of breath, coughing up phlegm and chest pain are among symptoms that can occur.

Antibiotics may usually treat pneumonia at home but severe cases may necessitate hospitalisation and can even be fatal. Some of the most widespread infectious pathogens that cause pneumonia are covered by vaccines.

What is Pneumonia?

Lung infection known as pneumonia can be brought on by a number of microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungus. Fever, coughing, shortness of breath and chest pain are some of the symptoms. Pneumonia can range in severity from mild to life-threatening and can be treated with antibiotics and other medications depending on the cause of the infection. It is a serious illness particularly for adults, young children and people with certain underlying health conditions.
